To remove a chocolate stain from a couch:
1. Place four ice cubes in a plastic bag and hold it over the chocolate for two minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.
2. Scrape the chocolate off the upholstery, using a plastic spoon or hard piece of plastic and taking care not to gouge into the material. Repeat if necessary until all chunks of chocolate are gone and only the colouring remains.
3. Mix 1/2 tsp. detergent into 1/2 cup warm water and blot it onto the stain, taking care not to soak the material. Wait two minutes and blot the solution up with a dry cotton pad or paper towel.
4. Pour 1 tbsp. ammonia into 1/2 cup warm water. Blot the spot as before, again taking care not to saturate the cloth. Blot dry; if any stain remains repeat this step.
